Deborah Kurman, M.S., M.F.T. is a California Board Licensed Psychotherapist who has been in private practice in Los Angeles for the past twelve years. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, she provides therapy for adults, adolescents, children, couples and families: treating issues ranging from anxiety and depression, to intimacy problems and sexual disorders, to adjustment difficulties in life transitions.
Deborah Kurman is also the Founder of Century City Panic Attack Center of Los Angeles, and Couples Counseling Center of Los Angeles. She has offices in Century City and in Sherman Oaks.
Century City Panic Attack Center of Los Angeles was developed for the specific treatment of panic attacks and anxiety disorders. Kurman’s educational approach to panic and anxiety is multi-dimensional, encompassing treatment modalities from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), gestalt therapy, humanistic psychology, meditation, bodywork, and psychodynamic therapy.
Couples Counseling Center of Los Angeles began as an offshoot of Deborah Kurman’s work with individuals suffering from Panic and Anxiety. Early on, it became clear that in the vast majority of cases, a large measure of the anxiety stemmed from the suppressed hurt and anger created by unhealthy dynamics in the client’s significant relationships. Couples Counseling Center offers therapy for married couples and unmarried partners. Kurman also does a great deal of work with conflicted adult children and their parents.
Deborah Kurman appeared with “Dr. Drew” (Loveline, Celebrity Rehab, Lifechangers) as a Guest Expert on Panic Attacks and Agoraphobia for a television pilot produced by Monet Productions and 20th Television.
She wrote for “The Voice”, a Los Angeles Jewish Newspaper, as a relationship expert in the Q & A column “Family Matters.” This column dealt with emotional issues in marital and couples relationships, and relationships between parents and adult children.
Deborah Kurman was interviewed for “Valley Magazine”, in an article entitled De-Stress for Success. She discussed a variety of coping strategies for managing stress.
Currently, she also does Employee Assistance Counseling and provides a brief treatment approach to corporate employees in need of counseling services. Kurman is on the Speakers Bureau at The Holman Group, offering live seminars to employees on topics such as stress management, and communication skills.
Deborah Kurman is a member of the Quality Management Committee at The Holman Group. She is also a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
Deborah Kurman was elected to Phi Kappa Phi Honorary Society, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She was awarded a Master of Science in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling, and received the Outstanding Student Award and Alumni Scholarship Award from California State University, Dominguez Hills. Her name is listed in the Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities.
Currently, Deborah Kurman is accepting new clients. However, if the schedule is full at the time of your call, you will be referred to Board Licensed psychotherapists affiliated with Deborah Kurman, Century City Panic Attack Center, and Couples Counseling Center of Los Angeles.
